PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 25, 2011– The latest Vietnam Oil & Gas Report from BMI forecasts that the country will account for 1.38% of Asia Pacific regional oil demand by 2015, while providing 4.80% of supply. Regional oil use of 20.6mn barrels per day (b/d) in 2001 reached an estimated 26.4mn b/d in 2010 and is forecast to rise to around 29.6mn b/d by 2015. Regional oil production was around 7.6mn b/d in 2001 and averaged an estimated 8.0mn b/d in 2010. It is set to increase to 8.2mn b/d by 2015. Oil imports are growing rapidly, because demand growth is outstripping the pace of supply expansion. In 2001, the region was importing an average 12.99mn b/d. This total rose to an estimated 18.37mn b/d in 2010 and is forecast to reach 21.41mn b/d by 2015. The principal importers will be China, Japan, India and South Korea. By 2015 the only net exporter will be Malaysia.

In terms of natural gas, in 2010 the region consumed around 511.5bn cubic metres (bcm) and demand of 653.9bcm is targeted for 2015. Production of an estimated 405.8bcm in 2010 should reach 556.7bcm in 2015, implying net imports falling from around 105.7bcm to 97.2bcm.Vietnam's estimated share of gas consumption in 2010 was an estimated 1.58%, while its share of production is put at 2.01%. By 2015, its share of gas consumption is forecast to be 2.44%, with the country accounting for 3.77% of supply.

Global GDP growth in 2011 is forecast at 3.6%, down from 4.3% in 2010. Growth in both the US and eurozone should be marginally higher than 2010, while Chinese economic expansion will slow and Japan's growth will slump to 0.7% as a result of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011. Our oil price forecast for 2011 is US$98.90/bbl for the OPEC Basket, giving Brent at US$103/bbl and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) at US$92.30, although these differentials are subject to change.

Vietnamese real GDP growth in 2010 was an estimated 6.8%, with a forecast average annual 7.0% increase in 2011-2015. Exploration success has been on the rise in Vietnam, with a growing number of international oil companies (IOCs) teaming up with PetroVietnam and finding and developing hydrocarbon resources - particularly gas. We expect that oil and gas liquids production of 373,000b/d in 2010 will peak at just under 407,000b/d in 2011, before easing back to 395,000b/d by 2015. Beyond 2010, consumption is forecast to increase by around 5-7% per annum to 2015, implying demand of 408,000b/d by the end of the forecast period. Gas production is forecast to increase from the estimated 2010 figure of 8.1bcm to 21.0bcm by 2015 - providing a basis for exports.

Between 2010 and 2020, we are forecasting a decline in Vietnamese oil production of 16.1%, with crude volumes peaking at just under 407,000b/d in 2011, before slipping to 313,000b/d by 2020. Oil consumption between 2010 and 2020 is set to increase by 78.2%, with growth beyond 2009 ranging from 5-7% per annum and the country using 554,000 b/d by 2020. Gas production is expected to rise from an estimated 8.1bcm in 2010 to 24.0bcm in 2020. We see Vietnam's net gas export potential turning into modest imports by the end of the period on the back of rising demand and steady output in the period 2016-20. Details of BMI's 10-year forecasts which provide regional and country-specific projections can be found at the end of this report.

Vietnam now shares third place with China in BMI's composite Business Environment (BE) league table, which reflects largely its strong upstream position. The country holds third place, behind India, i cadillac n BMI's updated upstream Business Environment ratings, with its ranking reflecting a reasonable resource position, better-than-average growth outlook, attractive licensing terms and an IOC-friendly competitive environment. There is a four-point gap between Vietnam and fourth-placed Papua New Guinea, and we believe Vietnam is safe from any near-term challenges. Vietnam shares ninth place with Pakistan in BMI's downstream Business Environment ratings, reflecting its modest (but growing) refining capacity, above-average oil and gas demand growth outlook, and low level of retail site intensity.

Regional oil use of 20.6mn barrels per day (b/d) in 2001 reached an estimated 26.4mn b/d in 2010 and is forecast to rise to around 29.6mn b/d by 2015. Regional oil production was around 7.6mn b/d in 2001 and averaged an estimated 8.0mn b/d in 2010. It is set to increase to 8.2mn b/d by 2015. Oil imports are growing rapidly, because demand growth is outstripping the pace of supply expansion. In 2001, the region was importing an average 12.99mn b/d. This total rose to an estimated 18.37mn b/d in 2010 and is forecast to reach 21.3mn b/d by 2015. The principal importers will be China, Japan, I car news ndia and South Korea. By 2015 the only net exporter will be Malaysia.

The import requirement would therefore be about 437,000b/d by 2015.

Between 2010 and 2020, we are forecasting a decrease in Australian oil production of 28%, with crude volumes peaking in 2013 at 620,000b/d, before falling steadily to 366,840b/d by the end of the period. Oil consumption between 2010 and 2020 is set to increase by 8.3%, with growth of less than 1% per annum throughout the period and the country using 1.04mn b/d by 2020. While oil output is expected to decline, gas production is expected to rise rapidly, from an estimated 50bcm in 2010 to a possible 122bcm by 2020. Demand is also expected to rise rapidly as gas plays an increasingly important role in the overall energy picture, with 10-year demand growth expected to be 33.3 buick %. Production growth will far outpace demand growth, however, and we see export potential rising from an estimated 18.1bcm in 2010 to nearly 80bcm by 2020, all in the form of LNG. Indeed, given the greater potential for more rapid growth in both Vietnam and India, the gap should narrow over the medium term, particularly as the country risk environment improves in both countries. Australia is further down the league table in BMI's downstream Business Environment ratings, reflecting its status as a mature, deregulated and competitive energy market with limited growth potential. The MedShare array was designed to maximize solar power production with the intention of feeding clean energy back into the Georgia Power electric grid. MedShare's interconnection agreement is part of Georgia Power's Green Power initiative, a program that pays a premium for clean energy that is generated and returned back to the grid.

PEARL also redefined its Associate Member category, and by a straw p corsa oll, confirmed PEARL's Board of Director's suggestion that the association pursue Standards Deve chevrolet lopment Organization (SDO) status through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The new Service Organization category applies to all electrical service companies that have a permanent facility for electrical reconditioning. Members of the Service Organization class have full Voting Member privileges and rights. In addition to a permanent reconditioning facility, Service Organization members must meet all other PEARL member requirements, such a minimum of $1 million in annual sales, adhere to PEARL standards and Codes of Business Practice.

"This new category is designed for electrical field service companies, such as those that belong to NETA, as well as motor and transformer repair shops, such as those that belong to EASA, assuming they also have a permanent facili auto part ty for electrical apparatus reconditioning and meet the other criteria," explained David Rosenfield, President of ROMAC Supply and Director for PEARL.

PEARL members also approved changes to the Associate Member category. The average price of common car seats is around US$850-1,050, that of medium-grade ones US$1,400-1,600 or so, and that of top-grade ones over US$2,000. The seating system turns out to be more expensive than gear box, chassis, and auto body to most of the cars.     The automotive seating system mainly consists of cushion frame, back frame, slide channel, covering, pad assy, recliner assy, and motor. The frames and the slide channel are usually obtained via the laser welding of high strength steels and they ask for excellent metal processing technology. Pad assy requires superb chemical preparation technology, electric control and order recall need electronic technology, and covering demands textile technology; consequently, there are few manufacturers of automotive seating assembly and the threshold is very high.  

The global automotive seating manufacturers fall into American, Japanese, and European factions. The America-based manufacturers are mainly composed of JC and Lear. As the world's largest manufacturer of automotive seating system, JC enjoys absolute superiority in pad assy technology and global presence. It possesses rich cash flow and improves its industry chain through purchasing small producers. JC accomplished three acquisitions from November 2010 to January 2011. In Nov., 2010, JC purchased Michel Thierry, the supplier of automotive seat textile fabrics for JC; in December 2010, JC acquired the component business of Keiper, the inventor of seat recliner assy, and the seating business of Recaro famous for top-grade automotive seating system; and in January 2011, JC bought the supplier of metal frames for automotive seating system named CRH whose major customers are manufacturers of luxury vehicles.

Lear started its cadillac bu ferrari siness with seating fabrics, its industry chain is highly integrated, and the major clients cover GM, Ford, and Audi, who contribute more than 50% to its revenue.

The Japanese manufacturers include Toyota Boshoku, TS, and TACHI-S; wherein, the former two thrive from seating fabrics, while the latter grows from seating spring. Toyota Boshoku mostly supplies for Toyota; 74% automotive seating systems of Honda are provided by TS; and the major clients of TACHI-S are Nissan and Honda.  

The European manufacturers consist of French Faurecia and German Brose. Engaged in medium & high-grade cars, Faurecia acquired Seat Comfort Segment of German Hoerbiger in December 2010. It mainly serves Audi A8 & A7, BMW 7 series, Bentley 831/621, and Benz S series, all are luxury cars priced over RMB 1 million.  

Brose, the largest manufacturer of electric seat adjustor and the second largest manufacturer of door-lock system in Europe, takes the lead worldwide in the fields of electric window winder, auto door system, ABS motor and air-conditioner fan assembly, but it deals with small quantities of seat assembly.  

In addition, the automotive seating manufacturers cover South Korean DYMOS and HANIL E-HWA; wherein, the former also provides gear boxes for South Korean Tanktech, and the latter gives priority to trim.

All the automobile manufacturers in China except BYD adopt the seating systems of joint ventures, and BYD also needs to purchase key components. The automotive joint ventures in China are mostly controlled by the foreign parties, and may eventually develop into sole proprietorships. The joint ventures of foreign-funded automotive enterprises in China are mainly the branch companies with the highest profit margin. Take Toyota Boshoku as an example: its operating margin in Japan is 1.2%, while that in China is as high as 13.6%. China has contributed over 80% to the profit of Toyota Boshoku.
